Premiership newcomers West Ham United have sealed the services of
veteran former England striker Teddy Sheringham for another season.

"The celebrations at the end of the season were incredible and I felt
lucky to be a part of that," he said.

"Now I'm looking forward to playing back in the top-flight with West

The 39-year-old former Manchester United forward scored 20 goals to
help the east London side to promotion via the play-offs last term.

Nice to see Teddy back in the Premier League!

Subject: Smicer set to complete Bordeaux move

Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer is expected to complete a move to
Bordeaux next week.

The Czech international, who scored in Liverpool's Champions League win
over Milan, is set for a medical on Monday before finalising terms on a
two-year deal with the French outfit.

Birmingham City and Charlton were also keen on Smicer who is out of
contract at Liverpool.

Bordeaux? Bah, they aren't that good anymore.

Subject: Roma complete Nonda signing

Former Monaco striker Shabani Nonda has signed a three-year contract
with Roma. The 28-year-old Congolese forward flew into Rome on Friday
morning and underwent a successful medical before putting his
signature on a deal which expires in 2008. He will reportedly earn
just under 1.5 million euros per season.

The signing represents something of a coup for Roma, as Nonda was out
of contract with Monaco and therefore a free agent.

He becomes Roma's third free signing over the last few days, with
both Siena's Rodrigo Taddei and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour
also having joined the Giallorossi.

The saving on transfer fees is important as Fifa have ruled that Roma
must pay some £5.3 million to Auxerre as part of the disputed
Philippe Mexes deal.

Nonda had long been linked with Juventus, but a move to Turin was
scrapped after he apparently failed his medical.

However, that 'failed medical' now appears to have been a cover as
Roma and Juve worked out the final terms of an incredible deal
bringing the Congolese forward to Rome and taking Antonio Cassano to

There is intense speculation that Juve are pursuing a single-minded
strategy to reumite ex-Bari starlet Cassano with coach Fabio Capello
by `stepping aside' in the race for other players, such as Nonda.

The theory, which appears to have substance, is that while Juve face
competition from Inter and Real Madrid for Cassano (whose contract
renegotiations with Roma are stalling over the fiery Italian
international's pay demands), the `handing over' of Taddei, Nonda and
Kuffour has given The Old Lady a clear advantage.

I am sure that Nonda will be a great striker for Roma, I have full
faith in him. As long he doesn't get injured again..
