Subject: Viking rewarded for Fair Play

Norwegian side Viking FK have been awarded a place in the UEFA Cup
after the final results of the 2004/05 Fair Play competition were
revealed.

Direct entry
The Norwegian Football Association topped the rankings and was able
to nominate a team from its domestic competition to enter the first
qualification round of the 2005/06 UEFA Cup. Viking had finished
fifth in their domestic fair play league but were given the European
place as champions Rosenborg BK had already qualified for the
Champions League while the next three sides - SK Brann, Tromsø IL and
Vǻlerenga IF – had secured UEFA Cup places.

Sunday draw
Six other associations - Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, England
and Switzerland - who finished with a coefficient equal or higher
than 8.0 will go into a draw for a further two places in the first
qualifying round. This draw will be held on Sunday 5 June during half-
time at the UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005 match between England and Finland
in Manchester, kicking off at 20.00CET.

How it works
The Fair Play coefficient is based on criteria such as positive play,
respect of the opponent, respect of the referee, behaviour of the
crowd and of team officials as well as cautions and dismissals. The
six teams involved in Sunday's draw are listed below along with the
final Fair Play table in full.

2004/05 UEFA Fair Play draw - 5 June 2005

2. DEN..8.224...Unknown - season ends on 19 June
3. SWE..8.158...Hammarby - domestic Fair Play runners-up to UEFA Cup
qualifiers Halmstads BK
4. EST..8.095...Tulevik Viljandi - domestic Fair Play winners
5. GER..8.058...FSV Mainz 05 - domestic Fair Play winners
6. ENG..8.056...Tottenham Hotspur FC - domestic Fair Play runners-up
to UEFA Champions League qualifiers Arsenal FC
7. SUI..8.028...BSC Young Boys - domestic Fair Play runners-up to
UEFA Cup qualifiers FC Thun

****************************************

Spurs has still 33% to play in Europe, that's not bad :)

In their debut match at their new Allianz Arena home last night, FC
Bayern München defeated the German national team 4-2 in front of a
66,000 crowd that also witnessed a spectacular ceremony featuring a
concert by pop singer Seal.

Deisler landmark
In the second game at the stadium, following 1860 München's 3-2 win
against FC Nürnberg on Monday night, Bayern were able to field their
own German internationals. The domestic double-winners took a sixth-
minute lead through Sebastian Deisler, having the honour of being the
first Bayern player to score at the arena, and their advantage was
doubled half an hour later due to a Robert Huth own goal.

Victory secured
Six minutes into the second half, Tim Borowski pulled one back for
Germany from the penalty spot but on 74 minutes Willy Sagnol restored
Bayern's two-goal cushion. Four minutes before the final whistle
Miroslav Klose beat Oliver Kahn's back-up Bayern goalkeeper Michael
Rensing only to see Hasan Salihamidzic, who struck the winner in the
weekend's German Cup final, have the last word two minutes later.

Bayern proud
However, the real star of the night was the Allianz Arena, which will
be the new home of Bayern and second division 1860 as well the venue
for six 2006 World Cup matches, including the opener and one semi-
final. "I know almost every stadium in the world, but I have never
seen something like that," said Franz Beckenbauer, president both of
Bayern and the World Cup organising committee.

Subject: D'Alessandro welcomes Spurs interest

Argentine international Andres D'Alessandro has revealed an interest
in joining Tottenham, who are said to be keen on signing the
playmaker.

D'Alessandro has been linked with a move away from Bundesliga outfit
Wolfsburg and believe he can be a success in the Premiership despite
the recent Argentine disappointments.

He said: "The Premiership is hard but that doesn't frighten me. I am
someone who likes challenges. A South American player can triumph in
England and Spurs have a good history of this with Osvaldo Ardiles.

"Things haven't gone so well for Juan Veron, Hernan Crespo and Diego
Forlan, but that doesn't mean I won't be a success."

His agent Marcelo Simonian added: "I have talked with Frank Arnesen
and Spurs are interested in the player but there are a lot of things
still to sort out.

"The Germans are not making things easy. They want the same money
they paid River Plate for him two years ago."

*****************************

D'Alessandro has a great reputation, but still has to prove much in
Europe. I don't know if he can make it at Spurs.

Subject: Keane hints at Celtic switch

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane has hinted that he would welcome a
move to Celtic.

The Republic of Ireland's all-time record goalscorer could be shown
the door at White Hart Lane after losing his first team spot to
Jermain Defoe and disappointing manager Martin Jol and sporting
director Frank Arnesen with a recent reaction to being substituted.

Keane played against Celtic on Sunday scored the winning goal for a
Republic of Ireland side in Jackie McNamara's testimonial.

After the game Keane said: "I have been linked with moves to every
club this summer.

"At the end of the day, I've got one year left at Tottenham, and I am
happy there but, if things change, then who knows? If the manager or
chairman came to me and told me I was no longer wanted at Spurs then
I am going to have to consider my future.

"As I have said, I am a Celtic fan, and I have also said that one day
I would like to play for them."

Keane was also full of praise for Celtic's newly appointed boss
Gordon Strachan, who he worked with during his time with Coventry.

"He's a tremendous manager," added Keane.

"He's the best manager I have worked under because he gets the best
out of players, he has this enthusiasm for the game and practically
he knows the game inside out.

"I am sure he is going to do a tremendous job for Celtic."

***************************************

He would be very welcome at Celtic :)

The computer-generated ranking of Europe's top football clubs, is
based on each club's performance over its past 50 games. Numerous
criteria are used, including a special weighting to reflect current
form.
Each team's rating is expressed as a percentage of the top-ranked
team. In principle, it includes all domestic and European games
played up to and including Sunday 29th May 2005. Newly promoted teams
will be given a provisional rating after 25 games.

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Actress Lindsay Lohan suffered
minor injuries in a crash with a photographer who pursued her through
the streets of Los Angeles, police said on Wednesday.

Police arrested Galo Cesar Ramirez who they said followed Lohan, 18,
and her 19-year-old passenger on Tuesday and tried to snap a
photograph of the "Mean Girls" actress. Lohan stars in the upcoming
Walt Disney film "Herbie: Fully Loaded."

After Lohan made a U-turn to evade Ramirez, he intentionally crashed
his minivan into the driver's side door of Lohan's Mercedes Benz
coupe, police said. The crash occurred just outside the Beverly Hills
city limits, police said.

Lohan suffered a cut to her ankle and complained of pain in her neck
and ankle, police said. Her passenger, who police did not identify,
complained of pain in her head and wrist.

A spokeswoman for Lohan could not immediately be reached for comment.

Lohan had called police from her cell phone to complain that she was
being chased by paparazzi shortly before the crash, police said.

Ramirez, 24, was booked on a felony charge of assault with a deadly
weapon and on an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor marijuana
possession, police said.

He was released on Wednesday on $35,000 bail. He is scheduled to
appear in court on June 22.
